     This week in science I learned about wind, storms, and weather by watching a video and taking notes on it. What I learned about wind is that wind is caused by the rotation of the earth. Also that without wind there would be no weather so no wind, no weather. One other thing I learned about wind is that cold air sinks and contracts while hot air rises and expands. What I learned about weather is that when there is low-pressure weather it is cold and stormy and when there is high-pressure weather it is sunny and warm. The last thing I learned was about storms and that storms are created by hot and warm air coming together.

    S&EP 6 _ Constructing explanations and designing solutions:

     This week I had to explain a lot and I did this because we had three assignments that all had you explain most of your answers. For example, in one of the assignments you had to explain what the coriolis effect causes and how wind is created.

Summary:        This week in science we learned about biogeochemical cycles, more specifically, I learned about the biogeochemical cycle known as the Sulfur Cycle. What I now know about the Sulfur Cycle because of what I learned this week through research is each part in the sulfur cycle. I also now know that their are a lot of different parts in the sulfur, but my focus was trying to make this complicated cycle very simple and easy to understand. The first part in the Sulfur Cycle is  Hydrogen Sulfide Gas is released into the atmosphere by the eruptions of volcanoes, hot springs (“ spring produced by the emergence of geothermally heated groundwater that rises from the Earth's crust. ”) , and the decay of living biological sulfur-containing materials in swamps, bogs, and tidal flats. Plate Tectonics 3/10/18

Summary:        This week in science we learned about Plate Tectonics. Plates have been on Earth for thousands of years and are consistently moving (very slowly). Through this the Earth can recycle our land, by destroying the old land, and creating new land. These plates are made of rock and are in the lithosphere layer of the Earth. Another thing I know is that there are 3 different type of plate boundaries. Those three types of plate boundaries are convergent boundaries, divergent boundaries, and transform boundaries. Convergent boundaries are when two plates collide and their are two different types of convergent boundaries. The two types of convergent boundaries are collisional boundaries and subduction zones. A collisional boundary is when two plates with the same density collide. Because they are the same density the plates buckle and warp. The land then pushes up into jagged peaks forming a mountain.
