Letter to King Arthur 9/6/17

      Dear King Arthur,                                                                                         9/6/17

I have done some research and I believe I have found your crown. Your pure gold crown was the crown delivered by Gawain. I found this through finding the mass and volume of each crown. We know that golds density is 19.3 g/cm3. We also know that in order to find density we must do mass divided by volume. Density is how much stuff we have in a given space and how close somethings atoms are together. So I have done mass divided by volume for each crown. The crown with the same density as gold (19.3 g/cm3 ) is your crown. I know this because your crown is made of pure gold and that would mean that your crown has the same density as gold.

The crown delivered by Lancelot has a mass of 1890 grams and a volume of 180 cm3 and 1890 divided by 180 is 10.8 g/cm3. Which means it is not the correct crown because it doesn't have the same density as gold the material it actually is made of is silver. The crown Percival delivered has a mass of 486 grams and a volume of 180 cm3 and 486 divided by 180 is 2.7 g/cm3. It doesn't have the same density as gold so it isn't the correct crown the material it actually is made of aluminum. The crown delivered by Bedivere has a mass of 1404 grams and a volume of 180 and 1404 dived by 180 is 7.8 g/cm3. That is not the same density as gold so it isn't your crown the material that crown is made of is steel. The crown delivered by Galahad has a mass of 2430 grams and a volume of 180 and 2430 divided by 180 is 13.5 which is the exact density of led. Therefore that is not the correct crown. The crown delivered by Gawain has a mass of 3474 grams and a volume of 180 cm3 and 3474 divided by 180 is 19.3 g/cm3 which is the same density as gold. Therefore making it the King Arthur's crown.

I know what each substance each crown was made of by looking at the "density of common substances chart." It has 6 substances on the chart, wood (oak), aluminum, silver, steel, led, and gold. It also listed each substance's density. If a crown had the same density as one of the substances then I automatically knew what substance that crown was made of. For example, the crown that Bedivere delivered has a mass of 7.8 g/cm3 and on the chart it says that steel has a mass of 7.8 g/cm3. So I knew that the crown Bedivere delivered was steel. This research was done with the best of my ability, and with that research the correct crown given to you was from Gawain.

                               Sincerely, Nicolas Reed
