Cell War video and poster 9/23/16


    This week my group completed our poster and are almost done with our video. The things I learned this week were that how my organelles shape is related to it's function. For me my group is the cell wall and the cell wall's shape is related to it's function because it covers the outside of the cell to have most of the protection. Also that the cell wall pretty much determines how big the plant will be and the shape of it. The last thing I learned is that a cell wall is made of cellulose. Cellulose is a special sugar.


S&EP7_Engaging in argument from evidence:

Ethan, my friend and I engaged in a smear campaign for a class project and our argument was that the mitochondria is very bad because it can give you a very bad disease. We used evidence by adding a professional website that we double checked that talked about the disease that the mitochondria gives humans.

Friday and Monday we were writing down the definitions of (I believe) organelles that are part of the urinary and digestive system. Here are some examples of some of the organs my class had to write down the definitions for, the esophagus, the pancreas, the liver, the small intestine, and the large intestine. One thing that I forgot to add is that there was one other paper that had the definitions down for my class because I did not want anybody thinking that my teacher would make us write the definitions on our own out of the blue. The way we knew the definitions was because on Thursday or Friday I forgot which day any ways my teacher showed what every organ that we had to write the definition for what each organ did in order. But the fun part was she assigned every single person in my science class an organ to make it fun. What also helped was that Ms. J went over the answers with my science class also she allowed us to switch our answers if we got them wrong that especially helped

Chemistry Mastery Quest 2 Regrade

The Question I got Wrong Was: Reactions that involve burning are classified as I originally answered decomposition, the correct answer was actually exothermic. I realize now that exothermic is the better answer and was the correct answer. This is because exothermic reactions release heat causing its environment to get warmer. This creates a rise in the temperature which creates the burn. This means that exothermic reactions involve burning. This is why the correct answer was better than my original answer and is the best answer.

Plate Tectonics 3/10/18

Summary:        This week in science we learned about Plate Tectonics. Plates have been on Earth for thousands of years and are consistently moving (very slowly). Through this the Earth can recycle our land, by destroying the old land, and creating new land. These plates are made of rock and are in the lithosphere layer of the Earth. Another thing I know is that there are 3 different type of plate boundaries. Those three types of plate boundaries are convergent boundaries, divergent boundaries, and transform boundaries. Convergent boundaries are when two plates collide and their are two different types of convergent boundaries. The two types of convergent boundaries are collisional boundaries and subduction zones. A collisional boundary is when two plates with the same density collide. Because they are the same density the plates buckle and warp. The land then pushes up into jagged peaks forming a mountain.
