Greenhouse Effect 4/9/17

     This week in science I learned about the greenhouse effect. One thing I learned was that one of the most common greenhouse gases is CO2. Another thing I learned was that the higher the CO2 levels are the more heat that will be trapped around the earth. One other thing I learned was that Greenhouse Effect can help farmers by helping keep the crops warm and allowing the farmers to have a longer harvest season. Also that the greenhouse effect may affect where people travel to because places like Hawaii are getting very warm and some may not want to go there because of that.  The last thing I learned was that the Greenhouse Effect may be helpful in some ways and sometimes it may not be so helpful.

  S&EP2_Devoloping and Using Models-

     This week we developed a model by creating a graph that showed the average ppm's for a certain time period. We used a table that had all the average ppm's per month of each year and we calculated the averages. Then we graphed each average on a graph and the graph showed us that in that time period the average ppm's for every year was slowly rising. Then we put all the graphs together (each table got different years and they had to do a different graph) in order in terms of years and it showed us that the ppm's are rising every year showing us that the greenhouse effect is getting worse and worse.

Friday and Monday we were writing down the definitions of (I believe) organelles that are part of the urinary and digestive system. Here are some examples of some of the organs my class had to write down the definitions for, the esophagus, the pancreas, the liver, the small intestine, and the large intestine. One thing that I forgot to add is that there was one other paper that had the definitions down for my class because I did not want anybody thinking that my teacher would make us write the definitions on our own out of the blue. The way we knew the definitions was because on Thursday or Friday I forgot which day any ways my teacher showed what every organ that we had to write the definition for what each organ did in order. But the fun part was she assigned every single person in my science class an organ to make it fun. What also helped was that Ms. J went over the answers with my science class also she allowed us to switch our answers if we got them wrong that especially helped

Chemistry Mastery Quest 2 Regrade

The Question I got Wrong Was: Reactions that involve burning are classified as I originally answered decomposition, the correct answer was actually exothermic. I realize now that exothermic is the better answer and was the correct answer. This is because exothermic reactions release heat causing its environment to get warmer. This creates a rise in the temperature which creates the burn. This means that exothermic reactions involve burning. This is why the correct answer was better than my original answer and is the best answer.

Summary:        This week in science we learned about Plate Tectonics. Plates have been on Earth for thousands of years and are consistently moving (very slowly). Through this the Earth can recycle our land, by destroying the old land, and creating new land. These plates are made of rock and are in the lithosphere layer of the Earth. Another thing I know is that there are 3 different type of plate boundaries. Those three types of plate boundaries are convergent boundaries, divergent boundaries, and transform boundaries. Convergent boundaries are when two plates collide and their are two different types of convergent boundaries. The two types of convergent boundaries are collisional boundaries and subduction zones. A collisional boundary is when two plates with the same density collide. Because they are the same density the plates buckle and warp. The land then pushes up into jagged peaks forming a mountain.
