Urban Village Project Blog 5/21/17

Summary Link      What we had to do for this project was was first think of a redesign for a certain place on campus then speak with a client about their redesign then actually build their redesign. Then after that we got to think really out of the box because we had to make an urban school type of thing and it had certain money, area requirements, and more. We also had to do some science part of it and include some laws involving the health of the city. What I learned was that including accords in your city can really hep your city to be sustainable. For example, having accords for energy and having to use renewable energy can help cities to retain money. I also learned that you can really make certain places amazing from conserving money. If you can conserve money then you can use that extra money you may have to add cool things like an arcade and things like that. Environmental Part of Urban Village 5/14/17

Summary Link      This week in science we learned about how you and your team can help make your urban village a very pro environmental village. One thing I learned was that by simply adding more bike and walkways you simply can invite more people to not use their car as much and from a result of that there will be a lot less gas going into the air. Also that if you have more public transportation that can help stop gas going into the air. This is because a lot of people can fit into a bus, train, etc. but not that much people can fit into one car, so you are using a lot less gas by having more public transportation. Another thing I learned was that simply just every year talk about the thing that is hurting the community the most in terms of environmentally to get the community aware and start fixing it. The last thing I learned was that promoting renewable energy really can save lots of energy and then you can use that energy for something th...

Chlorine, Acid Rain, Sediment, and Mountain Lion + Deer Game 5/7/17

Sediment Link     Summary-      This week we learned a lot about how things like chlorine, acid rain, and sediment can affect fish and we also learned how mountain lions help deer through games, assignments, and reading. The first thing I learned is that chlorine is actually bad for fish because fish can't breath in clean water. Also that acid is measure ph and there is a certain range of ph that is good for fish that is why sometimes rain can be bad for fish because the concentration of acid in the rain may be to high or to low. One other thing I learned was that sediment is created through erosion and too much sediment is bad for fish. This is because fish can't lay or hatch eggs with too much sediment in the water. The last thing I learned is that mountain lions help out the deer by balancing out the amount of deer by preying on the weaker deer which allows more shelter, water, and food for the deer that are alive.
